Whether you need a background check on a current employee or a potential employee, we provide the solution you need.   We know that in order to make the best decision, you need the best possible information. We provide the resources and the expertise to help you understand the information.

Here are the background check reporting options you have with MAP:

Credit Report

We all know that an employee’s personal life and finances can affect their professional life. This is why a Credit Report is a great resource for you. A credit report will provide information that will help you to determine whether the employee is responsible with their personal finances. While not every employee in your company may handle money or have access to sensitive financial information, some of your employees will. We recommend that you pull a credit report on any employee who will handle money or sensitive financial information. The Credit Report comes from one of the major credit bureaus and is available within our standard timeframe (1-2 business hours). It includes a list of creditors within the last 7 years, tax liens, suits, judgments (within the last 7-10 years) and inquiries (within the last 2 years). All users of consumer reports are subject to the federal rules listed in the FCRA.

MultiState Criminal

The MultiState Criminal search provides felony and misdemeanor records throughout the nation. Criminal history is searched by name and verified by date of birth. The search results are available within 1-2 business hours. Each state sets its own standards regarding the type of records that are available instantly so coverage varies from state to state. Many states provide both felonies and misdemeanors, but there are a few states that don’t provide any criminal records to the database. The MultiState Criminal search is to be used as a preliminary search for employers as it provides the best balance of information, timeliness and cost. In some instances, however, database records can be deemed insufficient as the basis of an employment decision. According to the FCRA requirements, an employer must verify any database records through a direct court County Search before any adverse action can be taken. If the employer is intending to take adverse action against the individual, they must provide them with a pre-adverse action and grant the individual 5 business days to dispute any of the information prior to the adverse action.

National Sex Offender

This search checks the National Sex Offender Registry for any records that may match your employee’s name and date of birth. When sex offender records are found, we will include the record, the details of the offense and a picture of the offender, if available.

SSN Verication

The Social Security Number Verification, also known as a Person Search, is used as a research tool in conjunction with the MultiState Criminal Search. It lists names and addresses that have been associated with the Social Security Number within the last 10+ years. For most SSN’s you also receive the date range in which the SSN was issued and the state in which it was issued. The results of this search help provide an insight into whether your employee is who they say they are. The Person Search is not a substitute for USCIS E-verify requirements.

Employment Verifcation

An Employment Verification will help you determine whether or not the employee was honest in their statements of wage, position and length of employment at a previous position. In addition to these questions, we can include a set of custom questions that are
more specific to your business needs. If you’re interested in this option, let your new account representative know. We will make three attempts to verify the employment information over the course of three days. If the information is received after the report has been closed, we will supplement the report and notify you of the updated results. Please note: Certain companies verify employment information through 3rd party verifiers which charge an additional fee to obtain the verification.

Education Verifcation

Not every potential employee will be honest about where and when they received their education. An Education Verification assures you where your employee received their degree, when it was received and what type of degree they were awarded.

County Searches

A County Search is considered to be a direct court search, meaning that the information provided to you comes directly from the source, i.e. the County Clerk’s office. These searches provide the most up to date information and the highest level of detail related to the criminal offense(s) and the status thereof. Most searches are completed in 3 business days but some can take up to 3 weeks. County searches typically provide criminal activity dispositioned within the last 7 years.

Federal Criminal Search

There are multiple regulatory bodies involved in the trying and convicting of criminal activity. Most crimes fall under state jurisdiction, but when a criminal offense crosses state lines or concerns federal law it is considered a federal crime and is tried in a federal district court. For example, drug trafficking, bank robbery and white collar crimes fall under federal jurisdiction.

DMV Searches +$36

If you are hiring someone for a position utilizing a company vehicle, (delivery drivers, maintenance/landscaping employees or high level employees provided with a company car) a DMV search can provide invaluable information. A DMV search will tell you the status, type, class, description, expiration and issue date of the license held by the employee. It also includes information about the employee’s driving history or Motor Vehicle Record (MVR), such as traffic tickets thereof.

AKA Search +$36

Criminal history is pulled by name and verified by date of birth. When an employee has used more than one name (nicknames or maiden/married names) they can potentially have criminal records under each name.
